Park Injector: Hiscox Double-Tube Control Sequence

← Back to Engineering Library

The Park injector uses lift and force tubes arranged in tandem to feed water toward a boiler. Separate handle movements control the lift and force nozzles, while an automatic check governs the overflow. Explore these components and select an explanatory handle stage.

Equation Used

stage 0=shut; stage 1=lift movement; stage 2=force movement
The labels follow Hiscox item 381. The self-lifting check is pressure-responsive, so its timing and position are not inferred from the selector.
  • The drawing is a schematic topology map, not a dimensioned section.
  • The lift and force tubes are shown in tandem as described by Hiscox.
  • Handle stage is a discrete explanatory selector with no implied travel or timing.
  • The overflow check is identified as self-lifting and automatic; its physical state is not calculated.
  • Pressure, temperature, pickup, capacity, efficiency, valve timing and safe operation are excluded.

Choose shut, lift or force to see the corresponding command and highlighted flow route. The moving dots illustrate a path; they do not measure flow rate, pressure or successful boiler delivery.

Hiscox item 381: tandem lift and force tubes

Hiscox describes the Park injector as a double tube in tandem. Its handle has two movements: one operates the lift nozzle and the other operates the force nozzle. A self-lifting check valve governs the overflow.

The selector separates shut, lift and force commands. It is a simplified explanation of the controls, with no calculated dimensions or automatic timing sequence.

Boiler-feed injector context

Steam injectors combine steam and feedwater in a mixing passage and use a downstream delivery passage or diffuser. US Patent 5,462,229 documents that general topology, but it is not a Park performance specification.

Hiscox item 381 describes the Park arrangement of tandem tubes, two handle movements and the automatic overflow check.

Discrete explanatory states

0 = shut; 1 = lift movement; 2 = force movement

This is a state legend, not a physical equation. The overflow check responds to real pressure and flow and is not assigned a calculated position.

Reading the force stage

At stage 2 the explorer labels the force-nozzle command open and highlights the declared delivery condition. That label does not establish that a real injector has picked up, is delivering, or has reached any pressure or capacity.

What a performance model would need

Predicting delivery pressure or water capacity requires a model of steam condensation, entrainment, nozzle geometry, choking, losses and the injector controls. A jet-speed estimate alone cannot establish whether water will enter the boiler.

This explorer identifies component roles and handle commands. It provides no capacity rating, dimensional specification or operating procedure.

Park injector questions

What makes this identification Park-specific?

Hiscox item 381 names the tandem double tube, two handle movements and self-lifting overflow check.

Does stage 2 prove delivery?

No; it marks only the documented force command.

Is the overflow check shown open or closed?

No; its real state depends on pressure and flow.

Can this page size or operate an injector?

No.
