FIRGELLI APPLICATION CALCULATOR

Truck Bed Cover Actuator Calculator

A powered tonneau cover pivots immediately behind the cab. The actuator pushes between a fixed bed bracket and a moving bracket under the cover; the required force changes throughout opening.

How the truck bed cover mechanism works

The moving panel rotates around a fixed hinge. The distance between the mounting pins changes as it opens, and the actuator leverage changes with the angle.

Use the design, matching and comparison options to evaluate the full movement. Enter your own dimensions and loads, and check mounting clearance at both ends of travel.

Measurements to gather

  • Weigh the complete cover including its frame and trim.
  • Measure from the hinge to both mounting pins.
  • Check clearance to the cab, bed rails and stored cargo.

Should the actuator be selected from cover weight alone?

No. Hinge leverage and the actuator angle determine the force at the mounting pin. Use the complete opening sweep and check the closed and open pin distances.
