FIRGELLI APPLICATION CALCULATOR

Electronic Motorcycle Kickstand Calculator

Design an electronic motorcycle kickstand that swings down from a stowed position. Adjust the hinge and actuator mounts, watch the stand deploy in side view, and compare actual FIRGELLI actuator geometry. The Micro Utility actuator is the starting choice when its force and pin lengths fit.

How the automatic kickstand works

A compact linear actuator is fixed to a rigid motorcycle-frame bracket and pushes a pin near the kickstand hinge. The animation shows the lower motorcycle, two wheels, frame bracket, actuator and stand throughout deployment and retraction.

The actuator moves the stand; it is not the structural prop for a parked motorcycle. The stand leg, hinge, frame reinforcement and positive mechanical stop or lock must safely carry the parked load even if electrical power is lost.

Measurements to enter

  • Measure the stand length, its moving weight and balance point, and the actual stowed and deployed angles.
  • Measure both actuator pin centers relative to the kickstand hinge. The fixed pin must have a real rigid frame mounting point.
  • Measure resistance from the hinge, return spring, seals and linkage, especially at breakaway. Verify ground clearance throughout the swing.

Choosing the Micro Utility actuator

The example starts with a FIRGELLI Micro Utility actuator where the calculated force, stroke and full pin-to-pin range qualify. Changing dimensions can require a different stroke, mounting location or actuator family. Confirm the exact model's push and pull ratings, environmental protection, duty cycle, controller and limit settings before building.

This preliminary motion calculation does not rate motorcycle stability, impact strength, road clearance or safe-to-ride logic. Use a positive stand lock and an interlock that prevents riding with the stand down.
