Bicycle theft is a $350 Million annual problem in the United States. The equivalent of a $400 bicycle is stolen every 30 seconds.
ParkENT, is using our Linear Actuators in an innovative way to keep bicycles safe in Georgia, Atlanta.
They provide a steel outdoor electronic bicycle rack that secures the wheel and frame of your bicycle with metal bars. The “bicycle parking space” is a theft preventing secure bicycle parking structure. A person activates the device with a cell phone app, a key card, or uses an attached kiosk. These devices will be located on college campuses, on business properties, along bike trails, in parks and used by bicycle renters. ParkENT Cycles just wants to “HUG” your bicycle and keep it safe.
Here is a letter from the Thad Oviatt, founder & CEO:
Thank you for the Mini Linear Actuator FA-RMS-15-12-X in the 4 inch stroke length. I am running a startup business for secure bicycle parking called ParkENT Cycles LLC out of Atlanta, Georgia. We use the actuators to activate metal bars to secure the wheel and frame of a person's bicycle. The actuators with their small and straight profile fit nicely into our stations. The low power requirements enable the option for us to use solar energy power sources.
We are getting a fantastic response from the public who say they want the stations out and installed already. In May we debuted the product at TechCrunch Disrupt New York in their Hardware Alley. We are part of ATDC.org, the Greenhouse Accelerator, and a semifinalist in the CleanTech Open Accelerator. Currently, we are raising funds to deploy a 50 unit pilot system into the Atlanta area.
