Momentary vs. Latching: Finding Your Control Fit

Precision vs. Speed: Choose momentary for delicate control, ideal for fine-tuning furniture or screens. Latching is better for tasks needing full extension/retraction, like solar panels or gates.

Our wireless remotes offer two control modes: momentary and latching, giving you the flexibility to precisely tailor actuator movement to your project's needs. Momentary mode works just like a dimmer switch - the actuator only moves as long as you hold down the button on the remote. This provides fine-grained control, perfect for applications where delicate adjustments are required. Imagine adjusting the height of an ergonomic desk or precisely positioning a projector screen - momentary mode allows you to make these movements with complete control, stopping the actuator at the exact point you desire.

Unveiling the Magic: How Wireless Control Works

Our wireless remote control systems eliminate the need for wires, employing radio frequency (RF) technology for signal transmission. When you press a button on the remote, it doesn't directly connect to the actuator. Instead, it acts like a tiny radio transmitter, sending a unique signal through the air. The receiving arduino, connected to your Firgelli actuator, is constantly listening for these signals. Once it detects the matching code from the remote, it wakes up and decodes the message. This message typically specifies which button was pressed (up, down, stop) and potentially the control mode (momentary or latching). Essentially, the remote tells the receiving arduino what you want the actuator to do.

Based on these decoded instructions, the arduino then sends a signal to the actuator, controlling the flow of electrical current through its motor. By regulating the current, the arduino instructs the motor to move in the desired direction (extend or retract) or to stop completely. This seamless communication between the remote and the arduino eliminates the need for wires to connect the controls to the actuator system, offering you the freedom and convenience of controlling your Firgelli actuators from a distance.
